Inquire about hosting

TORIKKA STAY is a private villa located in Torikai-ura, Goshiki-cho, Sumoto City, Hyogo — the only beachfront building of its kind on Awaji Island. Up to 10 guests, 4 bedrooms, full kitchen and sauna. Available for exclusive whole-building use as a venue for retreats, yoga gatherings, and wellness workshops.

Magical Land

About the Island and Torikai-ura

Izanagi Shrine

Awaji Island

The first island born in Japanese mythology.

According to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki — Japan's oldest chronicles — Awaji Island was the first land created by the gods. Near the villa stands Izanagi Shrine, and on the western cape, Nishihama Shrine. This is a place where the memory of Japan's origins breathes quietly still.

Torikai-ura

A quiet shore covered in five-colored stones.

Located in Torikai-ura, "Shin-Goshiki Hama" is a small beach covered in pebbles of amber, lapis, agate, white, and mottled hues. Once a beloved swimming spot for locals, it remains here quietly today. Standing barefoot on the stones, feeling them in your palms — a sense of connection with nature, so easily lost in daily life, may slowly return.

Why TORIKKA

6 reasons organizers choose us

01

The sea, seconds away — entirely private

The only building on this beach on Awaji Island. Step outside and you're at the water's edge. Participants find themselves opening up naturally.

02

About one hour from Kobe

Close enough to reach easily, yet the moment you arrive, something shifts. The first step into a different world for your participants.

03

A large counter kitchen and an on-site restaurant

A counter kitchen made for gathering around. Good for food-focused programs and everyday cooking alike. Dinner through the 1F restaurant is also available as an option.

04

Add a sauna experience to your program

The sauna can be incorporated into your schedule — a reset for participants' minds and bodies.

05

A remote stillness, away from the noise

Cut off from the rhythms of everyday life, with only nature around you. That itself can be the core of a retreat.

06

Accommodation for organizers too

Finding a place to stay while running a retreat is its own challenge. If you're looking for affordable accommodation for your team, let's talk.

From organizers & participants

The feeling of the sea right there, the gentle atmosphere of the space. Participants opened up sooner than usual — I was reminded again of how much a place can do.

Retreat OrganizerYoga instructor, women's retreat host

The kitchen was spacious and easy to work in — I was able to run exactly the food program I'd imagined. Watching participants naturally start talking through cooking together was something special.
